A hard fought game where we dominated for periods and were second best for some periods too. George opened the scoring with a deft Torres-like touch wrong-footing the keeper, followed by a long ball (sorry, pass) from Gary controlled expertly by Chris M on his chest to turn and fire past their excellent keeper. We could have increased the lead but for some good stops by him, and Barry kept them out but for one really nice goal to make it 2-1 at HT.
They had a good spell in the second half, but we also hit the bar twice and the post once while also being denied by their keeper again. 10 minutes to go and they scored 2 in succession to go into the lead. A snake-hips shuffle by Gary took him past their defender and he equalised with a couple of minutes to go. With the last kick of the game super-sub Alex wrapped it up with an individual effort. A vital win which guarantees us promotion and possibly the title, depending on the other results, not yet posted as of 21/9.
