Terrific game and very enjoyable. It was competitive but never dirty and was played at a fast pace. We were slow out of the starting blocks and they scored within the first minute. We got into our stride, weathered early pressure and Chris H scored an equaliser on 10 minutes after a period of pressure from us. They pressed on and Chris M did really well to latch onto a ball down the wing to flick it through into space behind the defence. Chris H managed to reach it and poked it through the goalie's legs. They equalised just before half time with a slightly lucky goal.
After the break they pressed on again and scored a third. We then enjoyed a period of pressure with Chris M doing great work to pick up and hold the ball for Steve P and Chris H to support. Steve Nic started to get more space down the wing; Ant and Steve P were making great interceptions to deny them any chances. Barry made an incredible double save; a goal at that point would have been difficult to come back from. After the ball was rolled out to their defender Chris H made a tackle which fortunately whizzed into the goal without the keeper having time to move. Close to the end we worked a corner where Chris M played it back to Chris H at the corner. He stepped inside past the defender and as the keeper came out pulled it back for Steve P who had made a great run, to sidefoot into the goal. We weathered a final onslaught to end up on top.
