A fantastic team performance and after a turbulent week of virtual assasination, just the answer that was required to answer all the questions raised. We all played the game that we know best and maintained discipline for the duration. We stretched the Shibby guys all over the pitch and they rarely threatened which should be testament to our own performance.

Gary - The rock at the back, excellent game
Steve N - Great outlet down the wing and solid game
Chris H - Best game for a while with some sublime touches and no aftershave.
Steve P - Tireless performance and gave no room to anyone near
Alex - Some great play with normally keeping two players busy at a time
Shaggy - Strong performance and show strength beyond his size against a strong defence that labelled him threat from 2 mins in.

A good way to shake off the hangover from last week, especially with other results going our way; we are right back in the hunt for top spot. I'm going to stop wearing aftershave for all games in future, it seems to keep the opposition from coming too near.

Well, firstly I seemed to have a nightmare trying to put a comment on, as I did not manage to put anything down for the first one! Anyway, I thought we played really well this week and I am glad the results went our way as well.  I think what was good about it was the fact we really worked for each other against a strong side. Well done all!

Onwards and upwards

After all that I forgot to mention my save. Did anyone see it?? Let me talk you all through it........

I said last night that the game was on a par our performance against Inter Melarger but having had 24hrs to reflect I think that was our best team performance so far. Right through the game you looked together as a unit and from the start the communication was a step up. You dominated both the game and a very useful side, played with assurance and purpose and maintained a good tempo throughout but most important you played as a cohesive unit and in so doing at no time did you lose control of the pitch and so the game. Another goal would have been nice but even in the closing 10 mins without that cushion as a team you looked composed and in control and I’m sure that caused them as much of a problem as anything.

I’m not singling anyone out as this was a true team effort and there were many moments such as these but for me the 2 things I will always remember and I’ll probably go on about it in 10yrs time are first: when in the 1st half Gary intercepted and drove forward into the midfield space. At that point I said nothing but closed my eyes for a second fearing the worst, when I opened them again Chris H had already quietly slotted into ctr back and Steve Nic had dropped 10 yards and tucked in, in doing that they had individually taken responsibility for the wellbeing of whole team and kept control of our area, it was so simple but so effective. The 2nd was the determination with which Steve P with only a few minuets remaining tracked back and tackled / fouled / mugged their player conceding a free kick but preventing a clear opportunity. For me these two incidents defined the way you played.

I want to say how proud I am of all of you and what you achieved as a team and I continue to be – I’m welling up now so I better stop.

Dominant and composed, always in control of the pitch and the opposition, true team performance. Made me very proud.

aha i did it!!! i finally remebered chris' wifes name after being told soo many times.

a quality game on tues. everyone was strong. when we got the ball we used it well. good support down the wings and playing the easy 5yard pass payed off. even though my goal was inside the box, the quality foul and quality cross made it worth one.

i look forward to next weeks game, playing a stylish football game with short passes makes it more enjoyable.
